FALL BASS FISHING ON LAKE TOHO

Finally! Our first cold front of the season has come through! What does this mean for the fishing? It means we will begin to see a great improvement in overall fishing quality. You see, bass and their feeding habits greatly depend on water temperature and a little something called dissolved oxygen. The hotter the water temp is, the lower the dissolved oxygen. As our water temps are now dropping into the 70’s and the days are getting shorter, the bass are feeding more throughout the day which equates to better fishing! The Fall is easily one of my favorite times of year, the big trophy sized bass begin to hunt the shallows again, they become more aggressive, and the weather is finally enjoyable to be on the water all day.

My go-to baits for this time of year is almost always going to be the FROG! I absolutely love watching my clients get that big blow up on the frog. My second choice is going to be moving baits like spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. Of course, the large wild shiner will always provide the opportunity for a bass of a lifetime!
